FAQs About LearnSqlServer2000.com
How does LearnSqlServer.com relate to LearnSqlServer2000.com and LearnSqlServer2005.com? Do they cover the same material?
- LearnSqlServer2000.com is the easiest to explain since it strictly and only talks about SQL Server 2000 material (such as administration and security). LearnSqlServer2005.com is next and, since it only focuses on SQL Server 2005, it's pretty easy to grasp what it's goals are as well. LearnSqlServer.com is like the "father" of LearnSqlServer2000.com and LearnSqlServer2005.com - it has every single video from LearnSqlServer2005.com and several from LearnSqlServer2000.com (SQL Server 2000 videos get removed from LearnSqlServer.com as we get farther and farther away from SQL Server 2005's launch).
What other videobooks do you have related to this website?
- Since a title like 'Learn SQL Server' covers so much material, an effort has been made to break up the material into logical sections:
LearnTransactSql.com
- focus on stored procedures, triggers, transactions and other aspects of T-SQL programming
LearnIntegrationServices.com
- SQL Server 2005 SSIS tutorials
LearnDTS.com
- SQL Server 2000 DTS tutorials
LearnReportingServices.com
- SQL Server Reporting Services
LearnAnalysisServices.com
- SQL Server 2005 Analysis Services (SSAS)
There are other potentially related videobooks such as
LearnAccess.com
and
LearnExcel.com

When do the videos expire after I download them?
- They don't! These videos are yours to keep as long as you want to keep them.
What file format do your videos use?
- Our videos use standard AVIs to ensure that users across multiple platforms can view the videos. You must have the
TSCC codec
installed to view the videos (included with each video is a link to download). Please read our
System Requirements
for more information.
Will these videos work on my iPod/Creative Zen/Zune?
- Our videos are standard AVIs so, yes, they will work on any portable device.
How often are new videos added to this site?
- As long as the technology is current, we'll add new videos every single month. Every website in the LearnItFirst.com Video Training Network adds somewhere between 1 and 5 hours of new videos each month. NOTE: This is one of the major reasons to purchase a One Year subscription!

What is the difference between the subscriptions you offer?
- The best way to explain it is with this
subscription comparison
. If you still are having difficulty understanding the differences between our subscriptions,
ask us a question
!
How soon after payment can I download videos?
- Depending on your payment method, you might be able to DOWNLOAD VIDEOS WITHIN SECONDS OF PAYMENT. If you use
PayPal
, payment processing is generally under 30 seconds (i.e., you can download videos that soon after payment!). If you use
Google Checkout
, payment processing takes generally 1-2 hours but, due to business hours, can sometimes take longer. If you choose to pay via check or money order, payment processing simply depends on how long it takes to get the check to us and for the bank to clear your payment.
Why should I purchase a longer subscription?
- The first thing you should know is that our 60-day subscriptions allow you download ALL THE VIDEOS on the subscribed website. The second thing you should know is that, even after your subscription expires, the videos are yours to KEEP - they do not expire. Now, to speak of the benefits of our One Year subscriptions, each month, we upload somewhere between ONE AND FIVE HOURS of new training videos for
each website
(current technology only, of course). That means that, within the next year, we will add somewhere around 15-30 hours of new videos for each website. If your subscription expires, you will not be able to download the new videos - only current subscribers will be able to download the most up to date videos.
Still confused? Check out our
subscription comparison
. If you still are having difficulty understanding the differences between our subscriptions,
ask us a question
!
Does my subscription to WebsiteA allow me to download videos on WebsiteB?
- A subscription is for the website that you subscribed to only so, if you wanted to download videos on LearnExchange.com, you would need a subscription to LearnExchange.com - a subscription to LearnSqlServer.com would only allow you to download videos on LearnSqlServer.com. Think about it this way: If you walked into a local book store today and bought a book on SQL Server, would you expect them to give you free books on Windows Server, Exchange 2007, and C#? Of course not - each book is a separate entity and it's the same way with our websites.
Do you offer a discount for subscribing to multiple videobooks?
- Of course! All of our subscribers receive a discount to subscribe to any videobook in the
LearnItFirst.com Video Training Network
. To take advantage of this discount, however, you must first
be
a subscriber. Once you purchase your first subscription, you will then see the discounts in your shopping cart and on the
Subscription Options
page.

How long are your videos?
- Most of our videos are between 5 and 20 minutes long and around 4-18MB in size. That's the perfect size to download in a few seconds.
Who records your videos?
- Our videos are recorded by expert instructors who are also experienced consultants in their field. Read our
About the author
page for full details.
Can I request a video on a specific topic?
- By all means!
Send us an email and suggest a topic
- we love to hear from our subscribers and answer requests. One of the great things about our training model is that you can make recommendations for future videos and we'll work very hard to implement them. Although we can't promise to create videos for any and all suggestions, we certainly will try!
What's the difference between the free videos and the subscriber videos?
- Nothing - about once per month, we choose one of the subscriber videos out of each Skill Level (100 for beginners all the way up to 500 for gurus) and make that video available for free.
How many videos can I download?
- You can download every video on the website as long as you have an active subscription, subject to our
Terms of Service
of course.

I can hear audio but I can't see any video. What could be wrong?
- Usually this is a simple matter - you haven't installed the TSCC codec. All you need to do is to download the TSCC code (
here
), then install it, and you'll be able to watch the video portion.
NOTE:
You may also find help at our
Troubleshooting Video Playback Problems
page
"The video is very blurry (or poor quality). Isn't it supposed to look better?"
- The video should most definitely not be blurry. In fact, we probably have the highest quality video that you can find on the web. The reason this occurs, generally, is that you are using Windows Media Player (WMP) and the default settings of WMP 9.0 and higher might cause it to "overlay" a layer on top of our video. To resolve this issue, visit the
Troubleshooting Video Playback Problems
page
I'm getting errors using my download manager. Which download managers are supported?
- At this time, no download managers are supported and visitors using them have reported errors. For best results, simply download the file using your browser.
I'm having trouble downloading the videos. What could be wrong?
- Try downloading the
Free Videos
. If you can download the free videos but not the subscriber videos, then the first thing to check is whether you are successfully logged in. If you are logged in and still having trouble, the next step in the troubleshooting process would be to check to see if your subscription has expired. If you are logged in with a current subscription and are still experiencing problems, try downloading one of the free videos (eliminating your web browser/system as the problem). For any additional problems, please
send us an email
for support.
If you are unable to download our free videos even after providing the proper code (the captcha) and you are not using a download manager, the most likely reason for the problem is that your (or your company's/ISP's) firewall is blocking the downloads. The following programs are only a few popular brands of firewalls:
Kerio Personal Firewall
McAfee Firewall
Norton Personal Firewall
SyGate Personal Firewall
Windows Firewall
Windows XP Internet Connection Firewall
ZoneAlarm Firewall
If you are having trouble downloading videos please check the instructions provided on the firewall manufacturer's support site, or contact their support department for further assistance. Due to the number of bugs and inconsistent support for RFCs among today's firewalls, it is simply not possible for us to provide detailed assistance.

How do I download videos for my subscription that I just purchased?
- To download your videos, you must login to the videobook that you purchased the subscription to. For example, if you just purchased a subscription to LearnSqlServer.com, you would now need to login to LearnSqlServer.com before downloading videos. You will use the
same email address and password
to login to ALL of the videobooks in the
LearnItFirst.com Video Training Network
. Once you have logged in to your videobook (such as LearnSqlServer.com, LearnExchange.com or LearnCSharp.com), just click the "Download" link next to the video(s) you want to download. We use a single-signon model but you must login to each individual videobook to download videos.
I forgot my password - can you help me?
- Yes - click
here
to visit our Lost Password page. Enter your information and your password will be sent to the email address we have on file.
I just purchased a subscription but I'm unable to download - help!
- To solve this issue 99 times out of 100 it is simply a matter of making certain that you are logging in to the "correct" website. Remember - our subscriptions are for a particular website (a "videobook"), not for LearnItFirst.com. Example: if you purchased a subscription to LearnSqlServer.com, you'll need to login to LearnSqlServer.com to download videos!
I forgot which email address I used to sign up - can you help me?
- Yes - please visit our
Contact Us
page. Enter your information and a description of your problem. Your information will be sent to the email address that we have on file.
How can I change my email address/password/account information?
- To manage your account, log in then click on "My Account"

What payment options do you support?
- Our credit card processing is handled via
Google Checkout
OR
PayPal
to ensure the most worldwide coverage possible but, for those users who do not want to use PayPal/Google, we also accept checks and money orders. Since we use PayPal AND Google Checkout, any credit card that they accept is accepted by us. As you go through the checkout process you will be prompted to choose your payment method.
How long will it take to process my payment before I can download my videos?
- Depending on your payment method, you might be able to DOWNLOAD VIDEOS WITHIN SECONDS OF PAYMENT. If you use PayPal, payment processing is generally under 30 seconds (i.e., you can download videos that soon after payment!). If you use Google Checkout, payment processing takes generally 1-2 hours but, due to business hours, can sometimes take longer. We process Google Checkout orders seven days a week during daylight hours, US Central Standard time, therefore it could take as long as twelve hours for your order to get added to our system if you place an order during evening hours CST. If you choose to pay via check or money order, payment processing simply depends on how long it takes to get the check to us and for the bank to clear your payment.
Do I need a PayPal or Google Checkout account to subscribe?
- NO! You can pay several ways: Google Checkout and PayPal for electronic payments (both accept credit cards) or personal check/cashier's check/money order for "off line" payments.
Do you do recurring billing? Will my credit card be charged for a new subscription when my subscription expires?
- No! We don't like it when companies do it to us so we won't do it to you
